tips and ideas for making a perfect cup of coffee

Everyone enjoys a nice cup of well brewed coffee every now and then, some of us more than others. However, with such a variety of different types and brewing methods out there, it is safe to say that not all coffee is created equal.   I really want to make sure I have a great cup of coffee after I have baked some of my favorite cookies or cakes.

Take Care Of Your Coffee

Do not leave your coffee open any longer than necessary. While preparing your beverage, don’t open the can or bag until you are ready to scoop. Immediately after scooping, close the container. This will keep your coffee fresher longer. It also keeps the flavor and aroma from evaporating in the air.

Keep your automatic maker clean with white vinegar. Run a brewing cycle with one part water to one part white vinegar. After allowing the carafe to soak in the vinegar for a while, run a cycle with plain water to rinse the machine. Clean your coffee maker once every week or two to remove rancid coffee oils, mold and other contaminants.

Adding Flavors

You have a variety of options to select when you are making coffee. Some people can’t get enough of the richness of dark roast, while others want their coffee to be less rich and more mild. Additionally, you can also purchase beans that are pre-flavored. Lots of folks add creamers instead of choosing flavored beans.  This can be a real treat with some types of cookies.

Always make sure that you store your coffee in an airtight container if you are not planning on using it. If you are a fan of espresso coffee drinks, you will find this to be very important.  This will help to preserve its freshness so that you can make coffee that is desirable for all of your friends and family. Coffee tastes the best when it is fresh, as this will help to optimize your brew.

A good grinder is a must for producing great coffee at home. By grinding your own beans, you can ensure that your coffee tastes fresh.   Some stand mixers have grinding attachments that make grinding beans a snap.  Most models allow you to adjust the coarseness of the grind to accommodate different brewing styles. Many coffee makers come with a built in grinder so you don’t have to have have a machine for grinding and then another for brewing.

As you now know, there are a vast number of different types of coffee available to you. When you use this information, you will allow yourself to discover and enjoy the type that suits you best. Just remember what you’ve read and enjoy!
